Environmental Services Assistant

We are currently recruiting Environmental Services Assistants to support environmental response and cleansing operations across Sheffield.The Role

You will be responsible for responding to a wide range of environmental issues, including:

• Clearance of illegally dumped commercial and household waste
• Cleaning and disinfection of noxious, verminous or contaminated premises
• Removal of animal carcasses and condemned foodstuffs
• Assisting with drainage investigations and remedial works
• Loading, collection and disposal of waste materials
• Completing basic records, job cards and timesheets
• Driving council vehicles and carrying out daily vehicle checks
• Working in challenging and unpleasant environments when required

This role involves both independent work and working as part of a team, with regular contact with members of the public.What We’re Looking For

• Full UK driving licence – essential
• DBS check required
• Basic literacy and numeracy skills
• Good understanding of health & safety and safe working practices
• Ability to work on your own initiative and as part of a team
• Physically fit – able to move, lift and carry heavy or bulky items
• Comfortable working in unpleasant or noxious conditions
• Reliable, organised and able to prioritise workload
