Lynx Employment Services are recruiting for a Clerk of Works – Highway Asset Maintenance to support the delivery of surface treatment and highway maintenance programmes.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced highways professional to join a forward-thinking team focused on delivering high-quality highway asset management.
The Role
You will support the project management and delivery of highway surface treatments and related maintenance activities, ensuring works are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and in compliance with statutory requirements.
Key responsibilities include:
- Assisting in the delivery and management of highway surface treatment contracts
- Supporting development of associated works programmes
- Carrying out feasibility studies and site inspections
- Quantifying treatment areas and materials, managing costs against budgets
- Contract administration including:
- Pre-start and progress meetings
- CDM documentation
- Streetworks permits
- Retention sign-off
- Monitoring contractors on site to ensure compliance with standards and legislation
- Supporting winter service operations including gritting and snow clearance
- Assisting with evidence preparation relating to insurance claims and incentive funding
About You
We are looking for someone with:
- Level 3 qualification in Civil Engineering (or significant highways maintenance experience)
- Strong knowledge of surface treatments such as Surface Dressing, Micro Asphalt and Footway Slurry
- Experience monitoring contractors and undertaking site inspections
- Understanding of Highways Asset Management and lifecycle planning
- Knowledge of Health & Safety and CDM Regulations
- IT competency including Microsoft Office, AutoCAD and GIS systems
- A valid manual UK driving licence
Flexibility is required, as occasional night and weekend work may be necessary.
