Coronavirus

To enable us to keep everyone as safe as possible, only office staff will be able to enter our building until further notice. We are still filling vacancies and recruiting staff.  If you need to contact us please call 0114 281 2946 or email your details to info@lynxservices.co.uk

Lynx would like to advise that all staff members keep up to date with the current situation by visiting the government website

https://www.gov.uk/guidance/coronavirus-covid-19-information-for-the-public

Based on the World Health Organization’s declaration that this is a public health emergency of international concern, the UK Chief Medical Officers have raised the risk to the public from low to moderate. This permits the government to plan for all eventualities. The risk to individuals remains low. Therefore, it is very much business as usual for Lynx and we have prepared some information in order for you to better understand the facts.

What is Coronavirus?

The 2019 Novel Coronavirus, or CoVid 19, is a new respiratory virus first identified in Wuhan, Hubei Province, China. Typical symptoms of coronavirus include fever and a cough that may progress to pneumonia causing shortness of breath.

How does it spread?

Because it’s a new illness, it is currently unclear exactly how Coronavirus spreads from person to person. Similar viruses are spread in cough droplets, but it may also be possible that a person can get Coronavirus by touching a surface or object that has the virus on it and then touching their own mouth, nose, or possibly their eyes.

What steps can I take to minimise the likelihood of catching Coronavirus?

There is currently no vaccine to prevent Coronavirus. The best way to prevent infection is to avoid being exposed to this virus. Every day, good hygiene practice is recommended, such as:

 Always carry tissues and use them to catch coughs and sneezes, and bin the tissue

 Wash hands with soap and water often and for at least 20 seconds;use hand sanitiser gel if soap and water is not available 

Wipe any keyboards and telephone headset/handset at regular intervals during the day   

Don’t touch your eyes, nose or mouth if your hands are not clean

What are the signs and symptoms?

Current symptoms reported for patients with Coronavirus have included a cough, high temperature and shortness of breath.

What do I do if I develop the symptoms?

Speak with Lynx. It is very important that you inform us if you are experiencing any symptoms of coronavirus as we all have a public duty to prevent the spread of this virus.

The UK Chief Medical Officers’ advice is to stay indoors and avoid contact with other people immediately if you have travelled to the UK from:

 Hubei province in China in the last 14 days, even if they do not have any symptoms Iran, lockdown areas in northern Italy or ‘special care zones’ in South Korea since 19 February, even if you do not have any symptoms  other parts of mainland China or South Korea, Hong Kong, Japan, Macau, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan or Thailand in the last 14 days and have a cough, high temperature or shortness of breath (even if symptoms are mild)  other parts of northern Italy (anywhere north of Pisa, Florence and Rimini), Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar or Vietnam since 19 February and have a cough, high temperature or shortness of breath (even if your symptoms are mild)

Do not go to a GP surgery, pharmacy or hospital.

In England, use the 111 online coronavirus service to find out what to do next. In Scotland call your GP or NHS 24 on 111 out of hours. In Wales call 111 (if available in your area) or 0845 46 47. In Northern Ireland call 111. In Ireland call your GP

Further information on all the above (along with updated advice) can be found on the government website :

https://www.gov.uk/guidance/wuhan-novel-coronavirus-information-for-the-public

What do I do if I have been in contact with a confirmed case / am suffering from the Coronvirus symptoms?

Do not go to a GP surgery, pharmacy or hospital 

Stay indoors and avoid close contact with other people.

In England, use the 111 online coronavirus service to find out what to do next. In Scotland call your GP or NHS 24 on 111 out of hours. In Wales call 111 (if available in your area) or 0845 46 47. In Northern Ireland call 111. In Ireland call your GP

 Contact Lynx  to inform us and stay at home.

Will I be paid for any time-off work?

Any time-off work will be treated as sickness absence, and so Lynx will administer Statutory Sick Pay (SSP) in accordance with Government guidelines. However absences of 8 days or over which are related to Coronavirus will not require a Fit Note in order for SSP to be paid.

It is also worth checking with Lynx to see if the client who you are currently on assignment with has any special arrangements in place.

If I have been off, what process do I follow to return to work?

The normal return to work policy is sufficient. Ensure that you have been given the all clear to return to work by a medical professional, and advise your Lynx Consultant accordingly
